It looks like Waymo (Google’s Self Driving Car division) is starting to expand it’s availability to the general public with their new “Early Driver” program. You can view information on it on their website here, and even see if your area is available to sign up! Unfortunately, I think it will be a while before my state (Illinois) allows self-driving cars. Illinois politicians can’t agree on anything, and unfortunately I think they will be too short sighted to see the safety benefits a self-driving car program will bring.
It looks like right now the program is focused around the Phoenix area. I can’t wait to hear about the feedback on this program. The future is happening. I’m glad to see that Google appears ready to move to the next phase of getting their products out to the masses.
